you’ve been trying to climb
isn’t a mountain at all.
Maybe it’s a small thing
made enormous
by all the stories
you’ve told yourself about it.
And maybe the answer
isn’t waiting
at the end of another struggle.
Maybe it’s here,
in the quiet courage
to stop running,
to turn around,
and look.
To see what’s actually there,
rather than what you’ve feared
you might find.
And discover
that life has been asking
something far simpler
of you all along.
