Poem

YOU ARE LARGER THAN YOUR FEAR

This is my personal site. UpSpiral is my company. Anything here that points you toward UpSpiral is me recommending my own work.

There comes a moment
when the life you've imagined
asks something of you
that the life you've known
has never required.

And suddenly,
the familiar ground
is no longer beneath your feet.

The old voices begin their work:
Who do you think you are?
What if it doesn't work?
What if you discover you were never meant for something this beautiful?

And because these voices have been speaking to us
for so many years,
we mistake their familiarity
for wisdom.

BUT FEAR IS NOT ALWAYS A WARNING.
Sometimes it's simply
the sound of an old identity meeting a life
too large for its understanding.

The parts of us
that learned to stay small,
to be reasonable,
to anticipate disappointment,
aren't trying to destroy our dreams.
They're trying to protect us
from the unfamiliar.

And we can love them without handing them the steering wheel.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BECOME FEARLESS TO CREATE A NEW LIFE.

You can feel the trembling
and still take the next step.

You can listen to the worried part
without making its predictions
your future.

You can meet the uncertainty
without abandoning the desire.

And when something doesn't work,
when the door you expected
doesn't open,
when the world seems unwilling
to cooperate with your beautiful vision,
you can remember
that a closed door
isn't necessarily
a verdict on your destiny.

Sometimes it's an invitation
to discover another way.

Sometimes Source is asking you
to loosen your grip
on how the dream must arrive
without loosening your love
for the dream itself.

THIS IS THE DEEPER WORK OF MANIFESTATION.

Not forcing reality
to obey our expectations.

Not pretending
we never feel afraid.

But becoming intimate enough
with our own wholeness
that fear no longer gets
the final word.

Because beneath the conditioning,
beneath the old stories,
beneath everything you learned you had to be in order to survive,
there is still something in you
that knows how to imagine.

Something that knows how to love.
Something that knows
how to begin again.

And maybe the great adventure
isn't proving to the world
that you're capable
of extraordinary things.

Maybe it's remembering
that you belong
to the same living intelligence
that makes extraordinary things
possible in the first place.

YOU WERE WHOLE BEFORE YOU LEARNED TO DOUBT YOURSELF.

And the life that's calling you
doesn't require you
to become someone else.

It invites you
to bring more of who you actually are
into the world.
